Description
The issues that our organization want to address through campaigning are as follows:
- Track government education budget of 22%;
- Advocate for promotion, reassessment of salaries and recruitment of more teachers;
- Government to provide adequate teaching and learning materials to public schools;
- Government and other partners to build more classrooms due to increase in enrollment of pupils in public schools because of the Free Quality School Education Programme by government;
- SLTU to continue its advocacy for increase in salaries for teachers due to the high cost of living in the country as a result of inflation.
We hope to engage the membership through sensitization meetings with selected union officers at the Branch, District/Zonal and Regional levels. These officers will in turn cascade the campaign message to the wider membership in their respective constituencies. This engagement is intended to build union capacity at the local Branch, District/Zonal, Regional and National levels.
