The Federaçao Caboverdiana dos Professores (FECAP) in Cape Verde is campaigning to provide educators with sufficient tools to fight the COVID-19 outbreak and gender-based violence in education institutions.
FECAP has held a major conference and workshops on 19 December highlighting the role of teachers in combating the issues of gender-based violence in education and addressing the COVID-19 crisis in schools.
FECAP is resolute in its efforts to tackle these crises and to keep them out of our schools, according to the union’s General Secretary and member of Education International’s Africa Regional Committee, Abraão Borges.
The education union has visited several schools in Cape Verde, distributing educational posters, to sensitise the education community to the fight against gender-based violence and the COVID 19 virus.
Borges said the union intends to continue these campaigns and is seeking the necessary financial support from national and international partners to do so.
