With an agreement signed with the Organisation of Ibero-American States for Education, Science and Culture, the National Union of Education Workers is seeking to strengthen the teaching profession through new education and research programmes.
The National Union of Education Workers (SNTE), and affiliate of Education International (EI), has committed to further strengthening and promoting the profession for its members. The agreement with the Organisation of Ibero-American States for Education, Science and Culture (OEI) will be carried out through the National System of Professional Development (SINADEP) to see that programmes and initiatives are implemented to enrich the teaching profession.
President of the SNTE, Juan Díaz de la Torre, a member of the OEI Advisory Council, stressed the importance of education quality in Mexico. He said that the programmes to update teachers are part of a long-term plan to strengthen the profession of nearly two million teachers who work with 35 million students every day.
The SNTE created the SINADEP to provide, free of charge using union resources, refresher courses and professionalisation to education workers.
