A report, “Equity, Excellence and Inclusiveness – policy lessons from around the world”, will be presented at the fourth International Summit on the Teaching Profession 2014 (ISTP). The report, which underpins the summit, will be presented by Andreas Schleicher, the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development’s (OECD) Deputy Director for Education and Skills and Special Advisor on Education Policy to the OECD Secretary-General. This summit, jointly organised by New Zealand’s Ministry of Education, the OECD, and EI will be held in Wellington on 28-29 March 2014.
It will bring together education ministers and leaders of national teachers’ federations and teachers’ unions and other teacher leaders from high-performing and rapidly improving education systems, as measured by the OECD Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA).
Innovative policies and practices
The OECD report details the state of equity in education today and provides numerous examples of the innovative policies and practices that some countries have adopted to ensure that the widest possible population of students gets the best possible education.
