EI’s annual Development Cooperation Meeting was held on 20 and 21 November 2008 in Brussels. The main topic of discussion was the development of a new statement of policy reflecting the current context of development cooperation in a globalized world.

In view of rapid political, economic and social changes worldwide, development cooperation needs to reflect these realities. The new policy paper attempts to respond to current global challenges of and demands for development cooperation. The foundation derives from EI’s policy resolutions.

Other issues of discussion included gender and development cooperation, the current financial crisis and its impact on education, education in emergency situations and the provision of quality education.

More than 50 representatives of EI’s cooperating partners, regional offices and EI headquarters staff participated.
