"It is with deep sadness that I learned about the death of Aberrahmane, a longstanding comrade and friend," said EI's Deputy General Secretary Elie Jouen.
Aberrahmane Chennaf, who died on December 20 of a heart attack, played a leading role in the Moroccan and Arab trade union movement. Committed to the democratic cause since 1966, Aberrahmane Chennaf fought for free trade unionism in the education sector in Morocco. Likewise he was very active in international trade unionism. Recently he advocated for increased dialogue between the EI trade union members in the Middle East. EI also notes his commitment to defend quality public school and equality in education, particularly for girls. Elie Jouen will represent EI at the funeral ceremony on January 27.
